Crap Christmas Craft

"It's the most wonderful time of the year."

When I was in Portland last month, I hit the "antique malls" and  bought a swag of vintage horse show ribbons (they are older than I am). I thought they'd make a nice "Merry Christmas" banner. The woman serving me kept saying, "I wish people would stop taking my name in vain," to which everyone kept responding with blank looks. Eventually she shouted, "My name is 'Merry Christmas' and every year people take my name in vain." I wanted to ask her what the f*** was wrong with her parents to name her that, but instead I just kept looking blank and ran out of the store with my purchases.

Anyway, with my childlike cutting, stamping and sticking skills, I made a set of letters to spell out Merry Christmas. I plan to hang them for my Bad Santa video night.

Yes, "Merry Christmas". Pretty unoriginal.

Here are some other words that crop up at this time of the year.  The last one is inspired by Gracie and my good friend Mr Doink (and matches my new Richie Designs letterpress cards, also found via Gracie).

  1. terrific!

and seriously now, why name your child "merry christmas"? why?

  2. very cool! well done!

and there are a LOT of freaks in portland, no? a hahahha. well, get out of the city and it gets even freakier!

  3. Ha ha, I love that last one!

I LOVE your Christmas banner - super original!

  4. I totally saw this when you posted it but forgot to comment. I love your Christmas banner and thought about recreating it with the ribbons I won in my horse showing days.

Please share some of your brain poops (or loveliness).
