Party Envy

Just when I was feeling good about myself for throwing Sarah's surprise party, I discovered this much better surprise party via the Party Perfect blog, that blogger Leigh Anne threw for her 16-year-old daughter.

Before I show you how much better, let me say in my defence:
  1. I only decided two nights beforehand (Sunday night) that I was going to have Sarah's party (on Tuesday night). Plus I work a busy job, caring for the sick, and stuff.
  2. I had to clean my entire apartment, for the first time in a year, in that time too.
  3. Sarah is not my daughter. She's not even related to me. She's lucky I didn't just buy her a stapler, wrap it in brown paper and smear some dog poo on it

Anyway, here's my $1.50 party decoration from the supermarket:

And here's Leigh Anne's beautiful handmade decorations (picture from her flickr):
Here's her beautiful cupcake and candy bar (picture from Leigh Anne's flickr):
And her drool-worthy balloons (picture from Leigh Anne's flickr):

Leigh Anne's party featured a Grease/Fifties theme with a pink, black and polka dot colour scheme. Check out her blog Your Homebased Mom and flickr for more pictures of pink balloons (!), the rest of the lovely food (strawberry cupcakes! strawberries dipped in white chocolate with pink sprinkles!) and her daughter's reaction. Makes me want to throw more parties. (How many surprise parties do you think you can have before it stops being surprising?)

  1. So glad you liked the Pink Surprise party we had. It is the first surprise party I have ever done and we pulled it off! I discovered that surprise parties are a bit more stressful though! I had to tell a lot of little white lies!
